WHAT IS OSTEOPATHY?

Osteopathy is holistic, traditional and drug-free manual therapy and makes use of manual assessment and treatment. This holistic natural manual therapy treats the whole person through a comprehensive and thorough case history and assessment. It identifies areas of the body that are restricted or constricted, then determining a treatment protocol to  gently ease their restrictions so that normal function can resume.

The goal of the practitioner is to find the underlying cause of the symptoms the body is experiencing and restoring the natural healing capabilities of the body. We allow the nature to do its job of removing the obstacles and obstructions that will interfere with the proper nutrition and drainage of the body’s tissue.

Osteopathic treatment works to restore proper body mechanics, nerve impulses and the circulation of body fluids. The treatments are not time based ,they are based on what your body’s needs at that time.

Osteopathy allows for normal interrelationships between the body’s anatomy and physiology. Once all fluids- blood, lymph and nerves are given freedom of passage and allowed to flow, health is restored naturally.

Osteopathy emphasizes the relation between structure and function of the human body. This therapy follows a belief in the body’s ability to self-heal and self-regulate, which is why Osteopathic Manual Practitioners do not see themselves as healers, but instead as facilitators to health.

BENEFITS OF OSTEOPATHY

OSTEOPATHY FOR ADULTS AND OFFICE WORKERS

Most of work-related issues are cumulative disorders, resulting from repeated exposure to high or low intensity loads over a long period of time. Osteopathy can successfully treat many of the common problems resulting from work strain.
Debilitating conditions due to injury at work can result in disorders of the muscles, tendons and joints, particularly in the back, neck, hands and arms. Symptoms may vary from mild aches to severe pain, headaches.  Working in an environment of high levels of stress, tight deadlines and fewer breaks may result in postural changes and painful muscular tension. And when we have less time to exercise, our ability to counteract the sitting posture diminishes and it really turns up the volume on your pain and discomfort.

OSTEOPATHY FOR SENIORS/ ELDERLY

Osteopathy for the elderly aims to maintain flexibility in the body structure for reduced pain and better quality of life. By working on the structure of an adult, osteopathy may assist in muscle relaxation, joint flexibility, healthy blood flow and postural balance.
As the body changes through the years and stiffness makes everyday tasks more difficult to perform, osteopathy aims to restore mobility and quality of life.
As we get older , there are increased chances of injuring the soft tissues and bony structures. The body also loses some of its ability to recover from different form of injuries and stains. The effects of aging on the body can cause symptoms such as poor balance, general stiffness, arthritis and joint swelling, back, neck and arm pain, hip and knee pain and stiffness. Osteopathic treatment can help in relieving/reducing these conditions. It can also help during the post-operative recovery period for quick healing and fast pain reduction.
